Southport North Carolina a fishing village of 5,000 at the mouth of the Cape Fear River founded around 1792 visited by pirates, home to Civil War Blockade Runners and commercial fishermen. It was the boyhood home of Robert Ruark author of the classic Old Man and the Boy.

This scenic tour will introduce you to the town, its people, and a way of life that is changing while still retaining a quality and a connection with the environment that has sustained for 200 plus years.

Each Southport or Oak Island location on the tour begins with its own page and a 360° panorama movie that gives the viewer a feeling of participation. The movie puts the viewer in the middle of a location and allows her or him to move left, right, up, down or zoom in or out.

Some history or background information is included with each stop on the tour. Some of the stops on the tour are multinode movies. At these stops the viewer may wander back and forth though several 360° scenes.

Additional pictures, movies, and interesting content will be added to the stops as it becomes available and new stops on the tour will appear as time allows. So enjoy and come back often.
